Ascension Associates has successfully received zoning approval for their newest development, a 4-unit affordable housing complex in Southern Lancaster City, Pennsylvania. This approval was the culmination of several months of rigorous planning, research, and community engagement, in order to advance both a key initiative of Ascension Associates, strengthening our non-hospitality development portfolio, while also supporting Lancaster City’s goals of increasing the affordable housing stock.
The development will consist of four, one-bedroom/one bathroom apartments spread over two semi-detached dwellings. The development will be built on what is a current vacant piece of land on Southeast Avenue in the City of Lancaster. It will feature separately metered utilities, a spacious open-concept living room and kitchen, in-unit washer and dryer, plus enhanced unit access control technology.
The development is a unique one due to our partnership with Nurse Family Partnership, a program operated by Lancaster General – Penn Medicine. This unique program pairs qualified nurses with first time single mothers, where the nurses provide education, training and resources to help these families succeed over the first few years of the child’s life. The Southeast Avenue development will work directly with Nurse Family Partnership to rent exclusively to clients of the program, providing safe, affordable housing to program participants while providing the nurses reliable spaces to conduct in-home visits.
